Luxury Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand
SLP Environmental was appointed by an international client to provide environmental monitoring services for mold (mould) including sampling, testing and health impact assessment services at a luxury hotel located in Bangkok, Thailand. The primary objectives of the study were to identify the species of mold/mould present in the hotel, determine the likely origin (inside/outside) of the mold/mould, and assess whether the mold/mould represented a potential risk to the health of hotel occupants and staff.
SLP’s scope of work included conducting a visual inspection of the impacted areas and i) the collection of air samples using a high flow Bio-Pump fitted with specialist bio-aerosol sampling cassettes for spore trap and culturable fungi laboratory analyses, and ii) the collection of surface samples for fungi surface culture analyses.
Specialist algorithms were used to assess whether the mold/mould spores originated from inside the building and an SLP Environmental specialist assessed the potential health impacts of each identified subspecies of mold/mould on the building occupants. Upon completion of the environmental microbiology testing works a concise report was issued to the client which summarised and explained the results of the assessment and presented recommendations for further works as indicated necessary.
