Former Miltary Barracks, Central Bangkok, Thailand
SLP Environmental was appointed by the Australian Government to provide technical expert, project oversight and validation testing and remediation verification services for a Phase 3 Soil Remediation scheme being undertaken on the site of a former military barracks in downtown Bangkok.
SLP was originally commissioned to conduct a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment for the subject property which identified that the property had been host to several potentially contaminative land uses over the last 60-70 years. SLP were subsequently appointed to design, conduct and report a Phase 2 Geoenvironmental Site Investigation which established that shallow soils at the property contained contaminants that represented a risk to the health of future site occupants and users.
The site vendor commissioned a local contractor to undertake the soil remediation works on their behalf and our client decided to appoint an independent environmental consultant in a quality assurance role.
SLP Environmental provided the technical expert, project oversight and verification role for the project. The scope of works included i) reviewing the contractors remedial design, specification and method statements for the works, ii) on-site monitoring of the remedial works, and iii) conducting an independent validation soil sampling and laboratory testing exercise upon their completion to verify (or otherwise) that the risk conditions have been satisfactorily reduced.
SLP also produced the Remediation Verification Report for the project which provided a full record of the works along with the supporting documentation such as figures, photographs and test results to verify that the works were undertaken effectively and the risk conditions at the property had been reduced to acceptable levels.
