Garment and Apparel Sectors, SE Asia
SLP Environmental was appointed by an international NGO to prepare environmental impacts and management guidance documents for the garment and apparel sectors in SE Asia. The primary objective of the assignment was to provide practical guidance to improve the environmental performance of garment and textile manufacturing operations within the nascent SE Asian economies.
SLP prepared four guidance documents under the assignment as summarised below:
¨ Typical Environmental Impacts associated with Garment and Apparel Production; which details the primary environmental impacts associated with various stages of the production process illustrated with case studies.
¨ Typical Contents of IEE and EIA Studies; detailing the required scope for the two different forms of impact assessment study, highlighting the main differences, illustrated with case studies.
¨ Typical Contents of Environmental Management Plans; detailing the general scope and contents of an EMP report, illustrated with case studies.
¨ Typical Requirements for Compliance Monitoring; detailing the general scope for the ongoing monitoring and reporting of environmental management measures implemented under an EMP, illustrated with case studies.
The draft guidance documents were prepared with input from the client, and once approved they were finalised for issuance to the relevant parties.
SLP provided a technical translation service for the finalised documents in requested SE Asia languages.
