Electric Vehicle (EV) Manufacturer, Rayong, Thailand
SLP Environmental was appointed to prepare an EHS Legal Compliance Register (EHS LCR) and conduct post-construction and post-operation EHS Regulatory Compliance Audits (EHS RCAs) for a new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility being developed in Eastern Thailand. The audit was commissioned by corporate headquarters in China as part of its global compliance assurance program.
The primary objectives of the EHS services were to:
- Compile a register of all applicable EHS legal requirements pertaining to the clients planned operations and activities.
- Audit the facility against the applicable legal requirements to assess the compliance status of the new operation.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the client in developing their EHS compliance programs for the new facility.
As a first stage in the process, SLP issued an Applicability Screening Questionnaire (ASQ) to the client in order to ensure that the EHS LCR for the Facility was tailored to the specific operations and activities undertaken at the new EV plant. Based on the information contained within the completed ASQ, and additional information provided by the client, SLP developed a bespoke EHS LCR for the Facility.
Once the construction works were completed, SLP conducted an EHS RCA at the facility during its commissioning stage to assess the plants conformance with applicable EHS laws and regulations prior to it becoming fully operational. The onsite audit lasted two days and comprised of site inspections, interviews with the plant EHS management team and document and permit reviews. Following completion of the site audit, a detailed audit report was prepared which identified the compliance gaps and provided corrective action recommendations to close the gaps.
A further EHS RCA was conducted at the EV plant once it was fully operational to assess whether any compliance gaps remained, and if so to prioritise them for closure.
SLP specialises in providing EHS compliance assurance services and has experience in multiple business sectors across the ASEAN jurisdictions.
