Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment

Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment

Automotive Parts Facility, Ayutthaya Province, Thailand

SLP Environmental was appointed by a Fortune 500 automotive parts manufacturing company to conduct and report a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for one of its manufacturing facilities located in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand, as part of an internal due diligence process. The primary objective of the study was to determine if soil and groundwater contamination was potentially present at the Subject Property as a consequence of historic and current activities on and or within the environs of the Subject Property.

The study was conducted and reported in accordance with the practice presented in ASTM E1527-21, and the scope of works comprised of a site and environs reconnaissance, interviews with key informants, consultations with the property owners and neighboring land users. Desk studies were also undertaken to determine the landuse history of the area and the physical and natural environmental setting.

As part of the study SLP developed a conceptual site model (CSM) for the property which detailed the potential contaminant sources, pathways for contaminant migration and potential environmental and human receptors which could be exposed to soil and or groundwater contamination.

This enabled the determination of the environmental sensitivity of the Subject Property, and an assessment as to whether there were any potential Recognised Environmental Conditions (RECs) associated with the Subject Property.

SLP prepared a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment Report detailing the study findings for issuance to the Company’s corporate headquarters. The report included a description of the study Site and the surrounding environment, landuse history, environmental sensitivity, findings, conclusions and recommendations. Supporting documentation such as figures, charts and a detailed photolog were provided in the report appendices.

Once the client comments on the draft were received and actioned, the report was finalised for issuance to the corporate HQ and local management.
