SLP signs the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles

Press Release: 13 June 2024

SLP Environmental has adopted the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) as part of its commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in our workplaces, business practices and community.

At SLP we believe that all dimensions of diversity are of utmost importance. Gender equality is deeply integrated into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to which SLP’s current corporate commitments and future targets are aligned. By signing the WEPs, SLP will have access to new and interesting opportunities to further strengthen our support of gender equality and empowerment and make progress in our journey towards reaching these goals”, said SLP Environmental’s Executive Director, Elizabeth Heath.

The WEP’s adoption reinforces SLP’s approach to gender equality and empowerment, which is based on the fundamental principles of non-discrimination, equal opportunity and inclusion, as well as on work-life balance. SLP’s business practices and corporate governance mirror this commitment.

The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) guide businesses on how to promote gender equality and empower women in the workplace and community. Jointly established by the UN Global Compact and UN Women, the WEPs are underpinned by international labour standards and human rights and by the recognition that businesses have an important role in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. Adopting the seven principles is the best way that businesses can deliver on the ambitions for gender equality and women’s empowerment as outlined in the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and in the 17 SDGs.
