SLP Environmental completed feasibility-stage Environmental and Social (E&S) Risk Screening for a proposed data centre in Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor. Delivered as part of a wider Technical Due Diligence assessment, the work identified environmental, social, permitting and contamination-related risks to inform early project planning and investment decisions.
The primary objectives of the Environmental and Social Risk Screening Assessment were was to:
- Characterise the physical, biological and social environment in the Project Site Area;
- Identify sensitive environmental, social and ecological receptors located within the vicinity of the Project Site;
- Review landuse history to determine contamination potential;
- Assess whether Project activities during its construction and operational phases could potentially have adverse impacts on sensitive environmental and social receptors;
- Where potential adverse impacts were identified; recommend potential mitigation measures;
- Determine the regulatory environmental and social impact assessment requirements pertaining to the Project; and
- Determine the key likely environmental permitting requirements applicable to the Project (e.g., those associated with water usage, wastewater, wastes, hazardous substances, fuel/ oil storage, air/noise/vibration etc).
In summary, the scope of work included a detailed document review via a virtual dataroom (VDR), interviews with client and landowners representatives, desktop study referencing authoritative sources, environmental compliance review and reporting.
The reporting include a high level colour coded risk assessment presented in a risk matric table format detailing findings, associated risks, risk rating and potential mitigation measures.
