SLP provides Climate Risk Screening and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) services which follow the principles of the ADB and World Bank assessment frameworks and are consistent with international good practice.

The primary objective of a Climate Risk Screening and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA), from a lender’s perspective, is to identify, assess and evaluate the potential for current and future climate-related hazards to materially affect the physical integrity, operational performance, financial viability, debt-servicing capacity and/or value of a project or asset.

The assessment determines the project or asset’s exposure, vulnerability and adaptive capacity, assesses the potential consequences of material climate risks over the relevant financing and asset life, and evaluates whether appropriate design, operational, management and adaptation measures are in place to reduce these risks to an acceptable level.

The CRVA is proportionate to the nature, scale and location of the project or asset, and may be applied across different sectors and asset types, providing lenders with a clear understanding of the project’s residual climate risk and any implications for financing, insurance, future capital requirements and long-term asset resilience.

The CRVA will identify and evaluate appropriate adaptation and resilience measures in response to the material climate risks identified during the assessment. This includes assessing the effectiveness of existing measures, identifying any gaps in the project or asset’s resilience, and recommending proportionate physical, operational, management and/or monitoring measures to address those gaps. The CRVA also assesses the need for adaptive management, allowing measures to be reviewed and strengthened as climate conditions and the understanding of climate risks evolve.

Our Climate Risk Screening and Vulnerability Assessments (CRVA) can be incorporated into an overarching ESDD or LTESA type assignment prepared for a particular transaction, or be presented in a bespoke standalone report, whichever is the clients preference.
